About. |
Established as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in 2017, we are the parents, families, mentors, and friends of the Leland Robotics teams FRC 604 and FTC 8404 mentored by Mrs. Arrington and Mr. Tibbs.
Team FRC 604 was formed in 2000 and team FTC 8404 was created in 2014. Both teams are known as Quixilver, named after the local Quicksilver mercury mines in Almaden Valley.
Our FRC team has won numerous awards and is a nine-time winner of the prestigious Regional Chairman’s Award. In 2017, FRC 604 placed fourth as their division’s winning alliance captain at the FIRST World Championship in Houston.
Our FTC team has students from Leland High School and Bret Harte Middle School. In the past 7 years, the team has received judges’ awards and recognition at every qualifying tournament. In 2017, FTC 8404 qualified for the FIRST World Championship in Houston where they placed 19th in their division and were finalists for the Think Award, which is given to the team that best documents their engineering design process. In 2019, at the NorCal Regional Championship, the team won the Innovate Award and qualified for the World Championship in Houston, where they won the Control Award. In 2020, at the NorCal Regional Championship, FTC 8404 was on the winning alliance and again qualified for the World Championship, though it was later cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. In 2022, FTC 8404 qualified for World Championships again by being Winning Alliance First Pick and won Motivate Award Runner Up at World Championships.
Both teams have received commemoration from the San Jose mayor in recognition of their efforts in promoting robotics and STEM in their communities.
Our goal is to promote, support, and advance the robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs for Leland High School and Bret Harte Middle School students. Donation to Leland Quixilver Robotics Booster Club is tax deductible. Our Tax ID is 82-3662530.
